On Friday 8th May we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. Although our plans to celebrate as a community can no longer happen on The Green, we welcome you to celebrate by a Stay At Home Street Party! At 11am there will be a 2 minutes of silence to remember all those lost in the Second World War At 3pm we invite you to join in the nationwide toast with the words: ‘To those who gave so much, we thank you.” 7pm The bell of Holy Cross Church will be heard ringing. During Bearsted Parish Council ‘Picnic on the Green,” which we sadly had to cancel, we were going to be unveiling a First World War Tommy Silhouette. Although this was not directly linked to the 75th Anniversary celebrations, we had thought it a wonderful time that the community would have been together. The silhouette will still be unveiled, but quietly and will give our residents a place for reflection when needed.
