CCTV in Bearsted – Update

At the Full Council meeting on Tuesday 15th September 2026, the Council resolved to proceed with the proposal to install CCTV in Bearsted. Swale Borough Council won the contract, they offers a 24/7 monitoring service from their control centre and direct/live reporting to the police. Other benefits include Swale arranging permits for the use of KCC streetlights, managing the data and ongoing compliance, saving the Parish Council time and money in staff costs.

The cost to install the cameras and monitoring for the first year is £27,576.10. Following this the annual cost will be £6375.00.
