Madginford Hall – Notice

Due to a collision at the end of July the main room at Madginford Hall has been closed.

The Hall committee are working with their insurers to arrange the necessary repairs to make the building safe.

This has led to the cancellations of many booking and a delay to the preschool reopening in September.

We will share an update once available and we thank those affected for their patience.

National Highways & Transport Network – Public Satisfaction Surveys

Kent County Council is taking part in the NHT Public Satisfaction Survey on highways and transport services. Whilst the main survey is being carried out by Ipsos, who are sending forms to a representative sample of households, we have also opted to take part in six web-based surveys on specific issues:

  • Highway maintenance
  • Accessibility
  • Walking and cycling
  • Public transport
  • Road safety
  • Tackling congestion

These surveys are publicly available online and will remain open until the end of February 2026. Click here to access the surveys

A bench with a view

We are lucky to have many benches across the Parish. These are a great community asset used and loved by many residents. They allow us to sit and enjoy some of the beautiful views Bearsted has to offer.

We’d love to hear from you if you regularly use any of our benches or have any pictures of the views from these locations.

Likewise, if you have noted any bench that requires maintenance please get in touch.

We have 24 located around The Green.
Other locations: Hog Hill, Yeoman Lane, Church Landway, Ashford Road, Egremont Road, Button Lane, Rosemary Road and Church Lane.
Pictures can be sent to:

Summer Book Hunt at the Bearsted Woodland Trust

4th August – 29th August

In previous years Megan from Book Bugs, ran an amazing Summer Book Hunt, providing reading books for children to find around the village. As Megan is no longer able to continue this great event, she has given permission for Bearsted Parish Council to run a book hunt through the summer holidays.

As we try to find out feet with this new event we will be limiting the book hunt to the Bearsted Woodland Trust and books will be hidden in the weeks commencing the 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th August.

Keep an eye on our Facebook Page where we will make announcements to confirm when the books have been hidden. It would be great if the books could be re-hidden, once read, for other to find and enjoy.

If anyone would like to share photos or stories of finding books, please email clerk@bearstedparishcouncil.gov.uk. (Please note these will be shared on social media).

This is a great initiative started by Megan and we thank her for letting us continue it. We would also like to thank the Bearsted Woodland Trust for permitting us to hide the books there.

Happy Summer Holidays!
