Government Devolution

The Government has decided that Kent will not be included in the current round of proposals for Devolution, which would have seen the election of a Mayor for  Kent in 2026 and the reorganisation of Local Councils a year later.  Instead, the Government is proposing to carry out the Local council review first with formal proposals to be submitted in November, and only then address Devolution..

This means the Kent County Council elections  in May will now be taking place, and the proposed Community Governances Review looking at whether unparished parts of the Borough should be Praised will now be postponed until after the County elections.
