Operation Brock, Monday 25th March, 2019

From this morning, Monday 25th March, 2019, ‘Operation Brock’ will be in place, meaning that the M20, J8 to J9 coastbound will be used exclusively for lorries heading to Dover port.

M20, J8 to J9 London-bound will be used for regular traffic. Four lanes (including the hard shoulder) will be split into 2 lanes heading coastbound and 2 lanes heading London-bound.

Please note: There will be no access for regular traffic coastbound from Junction 8 of the M20; vehicles joining at this junction will need to travel London-bound to Junction 7 and turn around to join the contraflow.

Disruption may not be limited to travel – there could be a knock-on effect on other businesses and services:

Bearsted Parish Council would suggest residents consider the following recommendations before they travel:

  • Anticipate longer journey times – check the latest travel updates and leave plenty of travel time.
  • Keep food and drink in your car/with you for potentially longer periods of travel.
  • Keep your fuel topped up within your vehicle.
  • Make childcare arrangements (if applicable) with friends and family in the event of longer journey times.

Although we understand the frustration this causes, please continue to be courteous and show consideration to other road users in Bearsted.
