Bearsted Parish Council has decided to postpone Bearsted Market on the Green until a Market Manager has been appointed. This will also allow time for the appropriate licence to be obtained from Maidstone Borough Council in order for this event to remain free entry. A further announcement will be made in due course.

Mynn Awards

The Bearsted Parish Council presentation evening and Mynn Awards took place on the 30th May at Madginford Village Hall.  The evening was a great success and very well attended with the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr David Naghi presenting the Mynn awards to the well deserved winners – all of whom have contributed enormously to the Parish.

Cancellation of May Market on the Green

A decision has been made by Bearsted Parish Council to cancel this Saturdays Market. This is due to some of our regular stall holders having prior commitments this bank holiday weekend. Please be assured that the Market on the 30th June will be going ahead as planned with your regular favourite stalls. The Parish are working over the next month to apply for the necessary licence to ensure that the Market on the Green continues to be a free event for local residents.

Market Manager Vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen to for Bearsted Parish Council as Market Manager, responsible for the successful operation of Bearsted’s monthly Market on the Green, ensuring it operates in compliance with the law and the Parish Council’s objectives, standards and policies.

We are looking for a contractor that is community spirited, enthusiastic and efficient, with great organisation and communication skills. You will have experience in marketing events and be familiar with social media channels to promote growing awareness and presence of the market.

You will have experience of managing markets or events. You will be providing a community resource that delivers a viable and economic outlet for local artisans and food producers, supporting local businesses and giving the local community the opportunity to purchase from local businesses. You will organise all the pre requisites of the market operation and be the on-site manager on market day.

It is critical that you can build successful business relationships with those involved in the market, including the stall holders, producers, customers and the public, but also external officials from Kent Farmers’ Market Association (KFMA), Produced in Kent, FARMA, DEFRA and local authority officials e.g. Highways, Trading Standards, Health & Safety etc.  You will also be required to update Bearsted Parish Council periodically on the markets progress and vision.

Bearsted Parish Council want Bearsted Market on the Green to be a pleasant and memorable experience with a reputation for quality, value and diversity.

Playscheme 2018

Bearsted Parish Council’s summer Playscheme will be running from Monday 30th July until Friday 10th August each weekday 9am- 1pm.

There will be a mixture of activities for children to partake in and will also give children the chance to make new friends from other local schools.

The Playscheme is for children aged 4-11.

Please note:

Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

One ticket per day can be purchased due to the need to capture children’s details via this booking form. For additional children an additional booking will need to be made.

Market on the Green- Research

Market on the Green has been taking place on the village green for many years and last year changed from the fourth Sunday of the month to the forth Saturday of each month.

Bearsted Parish Council are interested to gain feedback from local residents and businesses as to their thoughts on the current market and what they would like to see for the market going forward.

SLOW DOWN in Bearsted

To help slow traffic down and make Bearsted safer, Bearsted Parish Council have stickers to give residents to attach to their wheelie bins displaying the speed limit and reminding those passing to SLOW DOWN.
